Turning Tides Winter Social

Join us for our last event on the year! A winter social to share food, connect and be in community 🎄

Guilt Trip - Film Screening & Panel Discussion
Sunday 16th November 2025
30 people came together to watch a screening of Guilt Trip, followed by a discussion with ex pilots, Todd Smith and George Hibberd ✈️
Special thanks to Southsea Cinema for letting us use their venue, and George + Todd from Safe Landing for being guests on the panel. 👏
Placard-Making Workshop
Friday 14th November 2025
We hosted a workshop where people could come a make a placard for the following day’s Climate Justice Demo.
This was a great way to bring people together to talk about the climate crisis in a low pressure environment - channelling our emotions into conscious artwork 🌍

Placard Making Workshop, Saturday 9th November 2024
We held a placard making session to connect as a community and make placards for the upcoming COP29 demo.
It was great to see everyone and to witness the creativity and heartfelt messages 🔥❤️🔥
Thanks also to those who donated to Turning Tides (these help us cover the costs of these events) and for everyone helping us to pack down/ clean up. 🙏
Portsmouth Vegan Festival,
21st September 2024
Our stall at Portsmouth Vegan Festival 🌱
We did a survey of what people would like to see from a local Climate Emergency Centre.
Interesting and refreshing conversations with people of different ages and varying levels of awareness around climate change.
Did you know that switching to a plant based option could cut that dish's:
Climate impact 🌏 by 50%
Land use 🌾 by 74%
Water use 💧 by 50%
Impact on wildlife 🦉 by 50%
and of course, animal exploitation by 100%!

01.06.24 We joined the Picnic on The Green, hosted by Milton Neighbourhood Forum. Lots of positive conversations with the public and interest and support for our project.

Community Networking
Thursday 6th June 2024
Thanks for coming to our Community Networking event! We hope you enjoyed hearing about the great work happening in our city and left feeling inspired.
It's been nearly a month since we hosted our International Women's Day event, and we've counted up the donations and reflected on feedback. 📝
A lot of people were keen to have more time to network with different groups so we are hosting a follow up event which will be focussed on getting everyone connected and sharing the wonderful projects happening in our city! 💬

Women In Activism

Thank you for attending our Women In Activism event for International Women’s Day.
We heard from inspirational panelists, celebrated the work that is happening in our city and had performances from Mazzy Dee and Paula Ann Savage.

We need everyone, whether you are part of a community group, local business, work with local council or NGO, we need you!

Building Update!
We have been offered a temporary building to use on a monthly basis!
This will be our home until we find something more permanent (likely next year). The space we have been offered is an empty unit in a central Portsmouth shopping centre 👀
We’ll be sharing with Social Enterprise Link who have been incredible at supporting us through our journey
We are collecting your views on how the centre will operate and the things you’d like to see.
Women In Activism
Wednesday 8th March 2023
Thank you for attending our event . It went so well and we are grateful for the safe space and sense of community we created. It felt like we could have stayed chatting all night! 🥰
We heard from amazing panelists, and open up to a safe debate around the pressing issues at our time. Huge thanks to Hunter Gatherer Coffee for hosting us 💕
